Festive Fairs 2019

Well, it’s nearing the end of October (in my last post I was bemoaning the fact it was nearing the end of July!) so I should quickly draw your attention to all the festive fairs I have coming up over the next 6 weeks or so.

First up we have Tea Green Events’ contemporary craft market at Bowhouse in St Monans – I’ll be there on Sunday 10th November:

The following weekend I’ll be back with Tea Green at Glasgow’s Kibble Palace for a full weekend of fun!

On Saturday November 23rd you can find me in Perth for Perthshire Creates Design Market at Civic Hall

I’ll be staying in Perthshire for the Dunning Craft Fair at Dunning Village Hall on Sunday November 24th:

On Saturday November 30th I’ll be back in Glasgow for Etsy Made Local at the Briggait

The following day, December 1st, I’ll be at the Engine Works with Super Market Christmas 

And for my final fair of the season I will be back with Tea Green at Kibble Palace on December 7th & 8th.

Also, I’m very happy to have had a framed diorama accepted for the annual Edinburgh MacMillan Art Show raising funds for MacMillan Cancer Care,  which you can catch from 7th – 10th November at The Apex Waterloo

Out & About

Hooperhart

Hello! I promised a quick post about where you can catch me out and about this summer, so here we are – I’ve only booked two fairs so far (commitment-phobe, moi?) but they are goodies!

First up this Saturday, June 22nd is Perthshire Creates: there will be 52 talented makers exhibiting over two venues – Perth Civic Hall (where I’ll be) and Perth Museum & Art Gallery. Open from 10am -4.30pm

Then in August I’ll be at the fabulous Tea Green Market Weekend at Bowhouse, St Monans, Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th, 10am-4pm with lots of great contemporary craft, artisan food and cool tunes…

It’s been so long since I did a fair but I’m quite impressed with how laid back I am about it all, but then that applies to most things these days (see last post)! As long as I remember my stock, float, phone and card machine I should be alright…

I’m going to blow my own trumpet here and tell you that I’m kinda loving how my work is looking right now! Hopefully other folk will agree. It’s always a dilemma deciding on how much to take to fairs but this time I’ve got myself a super new trolley/cart thingy so at least it’ll be no bother to transport everything to the venues!

So if you’re in the Perth/Fife area this summer, pop along to these fab fairs and support Scottish contemporary craft and small business 🙂

Winter feels like it has definitely arrived this week at Hooperhart Headquarters – there’s been a hard frost the past few mornings followed by cold crisp sunny days and, of course, nightfall coming early. All pointing to the fact that it’s almost November (!) which means the first fair of the season is in less than two weeks – so here is a quick rundown of where you can see me out and about over the next couple of months.

An Indie Christmas

Like a lot of people I find myself constantly struggling to comprehend where the time goes, no more so than 5 weeks before Christmas. No really, what happened to Autumn?? How come all the festive craft fairs I booked back at the start of the summer are now imminent??? Yes, this happens every year and it still always takes us by surprise…

So – time to get organised. Fortunately, shopping for Christmas presents is a complete scoosh these days due to the plethora of independent businesses producing gorgeous, original products. It’s never been easier to buy beautifully-made, unique gifts, whether it’s from a local artisan fair or shop, through marketplaces such as Etsy and Folksy, or direct from a maker’s website. Over the next three weekends I’ll be selling my work at the following fairs in Perthshire and Glasgow (full details are on the ‘Shop’ page):

They all promise to be fantastic events with a very high standard of work being exhibited; there really will be something for everyone, and it is a lovely way to shop in your local neighbourhood.

Which is more than can be said for Black Friday, which is almost upon us; a lot of small businesses will be feeling under pressure to reduce their prices to try and compete with big brands and businesses. To combat this, the wonderful Just A Card campaign has come up with INDIE FRIDAY!

Across social media Just A Card will be promoting the work of independent makers and shops from all over the UK – look out for the #JACIndieFriday #IndieFriday hashtags on Twitter and Instagram and join in the fun!
And remember – when you’re out Christmas shopping this year, don’t pass by an independent. Take a look – you never know what you might find!

Mad Miss Morag the Lakeland Terrier has come to stay for the day (which always puts my dog Rudy’s nose a tad out of joint); whilst they are both snoozing in between bouts of general insanity, I’m taking the opportunity to write my second blog post!

It’s a bright, but chilly, Monday morning, and I’m watching a robin and a lovely little wren fluttering about in the garden. It’s all feeling rather autumnal so it seems appropriate to bring your attention to the Just A Card Into The Woods Autumn Shopping Guide!
